Making a weight loss program working
    Oct. 31st 2006 1:17 PM

There are many issues involving the problems of obesity and weight gain. However, excessive eating is often associated with unresolved emotions: stress, depression, history of abuse, insomnia, and other similar problems are often associated with the failure of weight loss programs. People often find it hard that why they are not able to work out on weight loss programs and lose the extra pounds. But anyhow, the problem persists and it is growing ever more. Let’s venture to delineate some suggestions that can help make a weight loss plan successful:

    • Try to monitor the type of your food. How many calories you take per day, and what amount of calories you need to spend in order to keep you away from weight gain. According to statistics, if you want to lose 1 pound per week, you need to cut-back 500 calories per day from the amount of calories that you might be taking at the present time.
    • Avoid junk and fast food as much as you can. Restore yourself to natural and fibrous foods that healthy and tasty.
    • Beverages should also be selected carefully–alcohol is not good for people who want to lose weight.
    • Try to exercise daily and with a proper schedule. If you can’t do some heavy exercise, work on going for a walk in the morning or evening.

It is not a question whether a diet plan or a weight loss program would be successful or not. The quesiton lies in the fact that whether you are 100% committed to lose weight? Are you sure that you would stick to the promises you made to yourself. If you are sure about these things, it is almost certain that you will be able to realize the results in a very proper manner.

Change in food: eating and cooking
    Oct. 30th 2006 1:42 AM

It is not a matter of surprise that more and more people are willing to change the way they eat–time gap between two meals, type of food, and the nutrient contents of their food. The global threat of obesity that has aroused a serious concern over weight has helped to make people realize that they need to work on it, if they need to stay healthy. The present health scenario is loaded with diseases of unknown potential, and they are threatening all the walks of life. Executives, personnel, labor people, salaried persons, students, and children–you name it and you will find some health problems in every group.

But very recently, health officials are becoming more authoritative in the implementation of health laws, which were hereby unknown and unimaginable to the people. The latest of them is going to be the ban imposed on the type of oil that is used in restaurants for preparing food: this oil clogs the heart, and the problem is on a rise. Though many people and restaurants are ridiculing the idea of banning the oil, but still it has some potential. If we can change some content of the food and reduce any heart disease, what could be more pleasing? We will need to spend lesser money on medicines. Yes, the concern over the taste of the food remains a concern, and it ultimately reduce the consumption of food per person. But nobody can claim that it will be worse than the taset of medicines.

If we are concerned about our health, we can’t just go by taste–we will need to listen to what health specialists have to say and recommend us. We need to stick to their advice and follow it with care. Once we do it, we certainly will be able to avoid large costs of medicines.

    Which diet pill works best
    Oct. 29th 2006 10:56 AM

It sounds almost like a cliche now that obesity is growing like an epidemic. What makes it more ironical is the fact that young people and children are getting the maximum battering from its effects. No wonder that people are very much curious to know the effectiveness of medicines, pills, weight loss plans, and other treatments that proclaim to reduce extra pounds in a trice. The rule of thumb for weight loss is that no pill can ever do it that way–you will need to work on your own and supplement the effectiveness of the pills with your own exercise, control over your diet, and other instructions that come with the weight loss plan.
The first requisite for any diet pill is that it should be approved by FDA–whatever the pill or medicine may say; never use it without that approval. FDA does not like to hide good medicines from the public eye! If it feels that the medicine is good for any problem, they provide the approval without any hesitation. At the same time, you will also need to find out whether you will be able to follow the instructions associated with that medicine. You will need to monitor your own life-style and habits, which sometimes are not in accordance to the requirements of the medicines. No question that you will need to change them if you want to get the maximum benefit from that medicine.

In addition to this, you will also need to some physical exercise, control excessive fatty diet, and follow a food routine that helps you to realize the results. So, before you go for any weight loss plan or medicine, make a detailed discussion with your doctor and know what the requirements are. Match them with your own life-style and ascertain that they are matching, or you will able to make them so. Certainly, you will be able to reduce the extra pounds but you will need to work on it for some days. Do not expect to happen it in a second.

Acomplia accomplishes diabetes cure with weight loss
    Oct. 28th 2006 10:46 AM

Acomplia, very recently, has been rated as a good medicine for weight loss. The results shown by the medicine are considerably good as far as weight loss is concerned. However, in a new study, researchers have found that Acomplia helps in controlling blood sugar. Acomplia is also known as Rimonabant, and it also accounted to reduce heart problems in patients that are suffering from type 2 of diabetes and have not responded to the standard treatment. To be very frank, if it works like as stated, what more an obese person can ask for? –He is getting treatment of both obesity and heart problems in a single medicine–truly, it is going to be helpful big time if it is all true and 100% effective.

As we can expect in the initial stages, some researchers have also shown concerns about the truthfulness of the statement, and they have argued that the medicine should be tested more rigorously. Well, this is a genuine suspicion, and we can’t take things granted in such cases. However, if it comes out to be fully true, then we will need to back it with our full potential.

Reducing weight and controlling glucose levels is important in patients with diabetes, as they have an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, blindness, kidney damage, and nerve disorder. Obesity has almost become an epidemic and a medicine like this (if fully proven to be successful) should not be taken less than a boon. Obese people will be able to reduce their weight, and even if they feel that their success rate is slower than others, they still have lesser tension about the uncertain events associated with heart. The drug has created a good debate, and we can hope that some good results will come out with the matter of time.

New findings about E. Coli Story
    Oct. 27th 2006 8:39 AM

If you have kept a track of the news about E. Coli, you might have noticed about the volume of news that are using this word. It has come up again–researchers have found that wild pigs are going to be the likely culprits behind the E. coli bacteria outbreak that killed and sickened many people. The bacteria were found in the spinach that people relished so much.

Researchers have found through genetics tests that the strain of the deadly bacteria was present in the gastrointestinal tract of a wild pig that has been discovered dead at a Salinas-area ranch. It is very significant development in light of the matter that investigators had announced two weeks earlier that they have found matched bacteria in tainted bagged spinach to three samples of cattle manure in a pasture near the field. However, it was appended that the results are not as convincing as they should have: this is where the present results hold edge–it is the first time they have found convincing evidence of how the fields became contaminated, and they are almost agreeing on this to be the real cause of the problem.

The spinach outbreak had sickened 204 people and killed three in 26 states of US, and one person was killed in Canada. However, the outbreak is believed to be over now–the U.S. Food and Drug Administration agreed on Tuesday with state health officials that there will probably be no more cases linked to the current outbreak. With the current results, the root cause of the outbreak is almost a certainty now. However, we will need to wait before the officials make a final statement about it–as we can well gauge that in a fortnight, the results have significantly changed, we can’t be 100% sure about anything at this juncture.

    Exercise helps in quitting smoking
    Oct. 26th 2006 6:31 AM

Till now, you must have adopted physical exercise to attain fitness and control over your weight. But a recent study has shown that people who adopt nicotine replacement therapy with exercise are easily able to quit smoking also. The study has been conducted on 68 patients at Otto Wanger Hospital and Lainz Hospital in Austria. The researchers have found that smokers who combine exercise with nicotine gum or other ways have more probability in quitting smoking than the ones who adopt nicotine replacement therapy alone. It has been found that among those who did exercise, 80% had quit smoking. At the same time, if people are not able to completely quit smoking, they will certainly be able to reduce the number of cigarettes consumed during a day. It is a significant development for people who find it hard to quit smoking–they can now do it in a very natural way. No special medicines or practices are required, and they just have to increase their regularity of doing exercise. When at one point it ensures a good physique, it will also give them more chances of quitting smoking. Surely people can take up to this practice and get benefited–at least, there is no extra cost involved in this.
The habit of smoking is on rise, and the number is increasing because the people who are willing to quit it are not finding any success. However, we certainly have a healthy solution now. Another very recent study has shown that teenager girls are not benefited from the concept of smoking to lose their weight. The new study combined with that study clearly indicates that there is no healthy practice involved in smoking. You have no need to start it for any healthy cause, and you can quit it when you work for your health–exercise.

Smoking useless for teenager girls to lose weight
    Oct. 25th 2006 5:46 AM

You might have heard about the common practice among teenager girls to smoke in order to keep their weight under check. However, a recent study has proved that there is no benefit in this practice, and that girls who smoke and who do not, gain weight at the same rate. This is a clear indication that if girls are smoking, they will not get any benefit from it to control their weight loss, except the psychological conception that yes they are getting some benefit.
Interestingly, the study has pointed out that boys who smoke have effects on their growth. They tend to be leaner and shorter in height in comparison to the boys who are non-smokers. The result of this study has come at a very crucial period when more and more girls are resorting to smoking. However, we can hope that with more detailed results of such studies, girls will realize that they are just wasting their money in such pursuits–it does not help to lose weight in any way.

The study was conducted on aroun 1300 Montreal students, and started to monitor them at the age of 12-13 years. It is astonishing to know that around 73% of girls among those students had started smoking. The study has helped to understand a major issue in the young girls. Boys will also take some facts to understand that smoking effects their growth also, but girls who are looking to control their weight gain through smoking will be largely benefitted from this study, as it does not support their conviction. There are many similar projects going on, and we can expect that the researchers will be able to provide more details on this issue, which will surely help in dissuading many girls from this habit of smoking.

    Vegetarian diet good for health
    Oct. 24th 2006 5:44 AM

Eating vegetables and fruits has always been the advice that doctors or specialists give to you. People suffering from over-weight and obesity need to control the variety that they can have in their diet. Heavy calorie food, food having high fat, and fast food are often told to be avoided for any diet program oriented for control weight. Salad, fruits and vegetable juice, and other fibrous foods are good to make strength without gaining weight. However, a new study has shown that fruits and vegetables also help in keeping your brain functioning up to its optimal level.

The news comes good to those who prefer to stick to vegetarian food–they know that it helps in maintaining a healthy life-style and also the intellectual powers that starts waning in old age. People feel less energetic at this age and feel that their physical strength is decreasing. But it has been found that vegetarian food helps in maintaining a good health in old age also, and people feel more energetic to do the works that they are engaged in.

Fruits and vegetables contain many antioxidants that help in keeping the physical and mental strength intact. Eating spicy food, which is often the case with many of fast food menu items, you are just increasing the calorie intake without any purposeful nutrition value of that food. It is one of the main causes for weight gain; and as the study has shown, it does not help in any way to keep your strengths working in old age. Vegetarian food does help in maintaining a good level of health and brain power, which is one of the main causes of worry in old age. It is good if you have already stuck to vegetarian food, and it will be better if you are thinking to.
